Why we built it
Understanding China from the outside is expensive in a specific way: the information exists, but it's split between official translations, forums of strangers, and consultants charging large-firm rates. Meanwhile the people who actually know how things work — the factory manager in Dongguan, the logistics operator in Ningbo, the teacher in Chengdu — have no simple way to sell one honest answer at a time.
Ask Me About China is the middle: a marketplace of vetted China insiders where a specific question gets a specific, written, experience-based answer at a small fixed price. No subscriptions, no vague "premium insights", no pretending to know what we don't.
Who runs it
The platform is operated by Huizhou Xiaoma Guohe Culture Technology Co., Ltd., a software and information-services company based in Guangdong, China. The founding team has spent years building software products for both Chinese and overseas users; questions from those users' partners and suppliers — "how do I actually work with a Chinese company?" — kept landing on the same desks. This platform professionalizes that conversation.
Who the experts are
Individual professionals living and working in Greater China and the diaspora: manufacturing and sourcing, cross-cultural business, logistics, education, relocation, tech industry. Every expert passes a 6-step vetting (ID verification, live video interview, a graded sample answer, reference check, trial engagement, ongoing review) and is paid a transparent 70% share, monthly and on time.
Our boundaries
- We answer from personal knowledge and public information. We are not a research agency, a sourcing agent, or a law firm — see terms clause 3.
- We publish no political or religion/ethnicity-contentious commentary as a matter of policy.
- Public sample answers may be drafted with AI assistance and always reviewed by human experts; paid answers are written by verified humans.
- Client questions are never published without de-identification and a 30-day opt-out window.
